With temperatures expected to sizzle this summer, its no surprise potential homebuyers are in the market for properties that already come equipped with backyard swimming pools.
The 2021 summer forecast and weather for eastern Pennsylvania is predicted to be a hot one from mid-summer to late in the season. Typically, the hottest summer weather occurs in late July or early August, but this year’s summer heat could peak in late August and early September, forecasters have said.
Area real estate agents said the coronavirus pandemic and pool construction delays have led to pools becoming a hot commodity in the current market. Tony Caciolo, president of Upper Saucon-based Monogram Custom Homes and Pools, told lehighvalleylive.com last week that construction on a new pool contracted right now wouldn’t begin until mid-2022.
Regional real estate agents said they also are seeing all-out bidding wars for any property with an outdoor amenity, including swimming pools. Rebecca L. Decker Francis, who leads The Rebecca Francis Team affiliated with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, said at least one of her clients wanted to build a pool to add to the sale value but was told by the builder they wouldn’t be able to construct it until 2023.
“In the past when a home came on the market with a pool, it was sometimes seen as a negative,” she added. “Now, we’re doing a little jump for joy when we get a listing that has a pool. We know that it will most likely go fast in this market.”
For those wanting to join the search, we scoped out five homes currently for sale on Trulia in both Northampton and Lehigh counties with in-ground swimming pools. We listed them in order from lowest to highest in asking price.
